Year 7 Admissions

Ernest Bevin Academy is proud to offer an exceptional education for boys in Year 7 through to Year 11. Our admissions process is designed to be clear and straightforward for all families.
How to Apply for Year 7
- Complete your local authority's Common Application Form
Applications for Year 7 entry must be made through your home local authority by 31st October 2025 for entry in September 2026. This is done by completing the Common Application Form (CAF) provided by your local authority.
- Name Ernest Bevin Academy as one of your preferences
You can name up to six schools in order of preference on the CAF. To apply for Ernest Bevin Academy, you must include our school as one of your preferences.
- Submit your application by the deadline
Make sure to submit your application by 31st October 2025. Late applications will be considered after all on-time applications have been processed.
- National Offer Day - 1st March 2026
You will be notified of the outcome of your application on National Offer Day. If you are offered a place, you will need to accept or decline the offer by the deadline specified by your local authority.
- Transition process begins
If your child is offered and accepts a place, our transition team will contact you with information about the transition process, including induction days and welcome events.

In the event that Ernest Bevin Academy is oversubscribed, places will be allocated according to the following criteria in order of priority:
1. Looked After Children and Previously Looked After Children
Children who are in the care of a local authority, or being provided with accommodation by a local authority in the exercise of their social services functions, or children who were previously looked after but ceased to be so because they were adopted or became subject to a child arrangements order or special guardianship order.
2. Children with Siblings at the School
Children who will have a sibling attending the academy at the time of admission. Siblings include brothers, half-brothers, step-brothers, and foster brothers who live at the same address.
3. Children with Medical or Social Needs
Children who have a significant medical or psychological condition that makes it essential they attend Ernest Bevin Academy. Appropriate medical or psychological evidence must be provided in support of the application.
4. Children of Staff
Children of staff who have been employed at the school for two or more years, or who have been recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.
5. Distance from Home to School
Children living closest to the school, with distance measured by a straight line from the home address to the main entrance of the school. Where two or more children live an equal distance from the school, places will be allocated by random allocation.
